12 Days of Baking: Snickerdoodles (Day 3)

Snickerdoodle cookies are one of my absolute favorite cookies, and I have many favorites. I am the real life cookie monster. I love cooookies! A friend whipped up a batch and sent a tin of mixed cookies, Snickerdoodles included, one year for Christmas. My friends really know me.

The Snickerdodle is basically a sugar cookie, chilled, rolled in to balls and then rolled in to a sugar/cinnamon mixture and flattened. They’re tasty as heck and go well with an ice cold glass of milk.

Here’s what you need to make this yummy cookie!

What you need

For cinnamon/sugar mixture

2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon

For cookie

1 cup softened butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups of flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

What to do

Pre-heat oven to 375°F.

1. Cream together butter and sugar until well blended and fluffy.

2. Mix in (to creamed mixture) & blend well

  • Eggs, one at a time
  • flour
  • cream of tartar
  • baking soda
  • salt

3. Chill in refrigerator for one hour. Remove and roll in to small/medium balls; roll in cinnamon mixture until well coated. Place on cookie sheet two inches apart. Cookie will flatten itself, if not use can use a fork.

Bake for 10-12 minutes. You want the edges crispy but the center soft (not raw).
