Explore Your Own Backyard, Local, Travel

A New Vision

Hello friends! Now that my university journey has ended, I want to focus more on this little blog o’mine. I am hoping that I can spend more time writing about things to do locally, traveling, and food. Sure, there are thousands of blogs out there that already have that content, but why not add my own personal twist to it?

You may noticed that this blog has a lot less content than before. That is because I’ve gone ahead and deleted old content, so I can focus on the new. I had a lovely coffee break with Alicia from Prairie Style File¬†yesterday, and listening to her adventures as a travel writer has really inspired me to get back into it. I’m hoping that I can bring you some new content and feature different things while sticking to travel, food, and local jaunts.

If you’re a visitors centre and would like to collaborate with me to feature your lovely city/town, please feel free to contact me through the “Let’s Collaborate” link above. Let’s get talking!

Life of a University Student

Still here

The last few months have been extremely busy. January kicked off the final months of university and I am happy to report that I am right on track for graduation in May. That is why you haven’t seen a blog post since the end of December. It has been my goal to make sure that I give my studies everything I have got; persistence has paid off and my grades reflect the hard work.

I’ve also been working full-time, back at the place I love the most, and it has been a lot of fun. It has been so wonderful to work alongside the most amazing coworkers; the students and I continue to have fun each and every day.

Over the last few months I have been busy planning my future. I made the decision in December to apply to the Education Program come September 2015. Last month all the required documents were sent off and now I patiently wait to hear back from the chosen university. I am very excited for this new opportunity and look forward to starting my new career as a teacher in just a couple of years. The students that I work with are excited too – I could possibly be their history teacher by the time they enter into high school.

Life has been busy and I am loving every minute. I still make sure that I plan time just for me to escape how crazy life can be; plans to hang out with friends have also taken shape. It is extremely important to make time to socialize… I promised myself that when I returned to university last year, I wouldn’t make the same mistake I made those years ago – shutting myself out from society and my social life so that I could focus and become a studious student. My time away from the books have been wonderful, especially when I can sit down and watch Netflix (signing up was the best idea ever!).

The next few weeks will become even more chaotic when it will become time to study for the final. I am glad that I have friends and family who understand just how busy I will be and support me all the way. It’s the best feeling in the world when you know they genuinely care about your best interests and cheer for you all the way.

I be kicking it.

It’s been pretty quiet around this neck of the woods and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the blogging break. Frankly I was just too busy and too tired to sit down at the end of the day and put fingers to keys to write something decent. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

I’ve been working a full-time job since middle of January and I have been loving every minute of it. This job definitely keeps me on my toes and it keeps me very busy… I cannot complain one bit about it. I work with an amazing group of people who I love being around and love talking with. I’m learning something new and learning new things is never a bad thing. Now I have a new skill that I can add to my resume.

In just a couple of weeks school will end for university students. I have to say that I have never been happier before than I am now. I love being out of school and not having to worry about homework, assignments and finals. Sure I don’t have my diploma but the stress and university politics was killing me slowly and I had to escape. I’ll take the next year to unwind more and think of my options so that come Fall 2012 when the suspension hold is lifted, I can think of what I will be doing and where I want to go.

The weather this weekend has been unbelievably, and unseasonably, warm. As I write this blog (wrote it yesterday) it is +20/69F. The snow is gone, patios are open and people are in shorts and flip flops. It’s gorgeous out there! Saturday night I took advantage of this weather and went out for dinner with my friend Vanessa. We hit up Earls and enjoyed bevvies and appetizers, not to mention the gorgeous weather that allowed us to sit on a patio in the middle of March. Then Sunday we hit up Salisbury (after trying to other great eateries) for breakfast. I think Salisbury needs a patio for nice weather. It’s been an amazing weekend!

What did you do this weekend?

Giveaway partnership opportunity

November is next month and November is my birthday month. This is my last year in my twenties and I’m actually kind of glad I’ll be turning 30 next year. My twenties were challenging, full of many ups and downs, new job adventures, new friends and medical emergencies. I find that I am having more fun now that I did in my early and mid-twenties.

I have some things planned for the month of November and included in that I want to have my very first giveaway. This is where I am calling upon my blogger/crafting/entrepreneur friends. If you have an Etsy store, craft or are have a business such as design (not limited to), I would like to partner with you to host a giveaway. Some people have a giveaway a day during their birth month leading up to their birth day, but mine is the 28th and I don’t think I could do a giveaway for 28 days. I would like to do, maybe four, but if I can’t… one giveaway would be swell.

If you are a crafter, have an Etsy shop, or your own business and would like to promote yourself/your business and participate in the giveaway, send me an email at thisnorthernbelle at gmail dot com for more details! I would love to partner with you!
